Heroes

Recently, I have been watching the first few episodes of Heroes... a new american TV series which is yet to hit these shores. The general premise is that people start to manifest superpowers.

So far, what I've seen can only be appropriately described as "office chair mighty". If you do not understand this reference then you should consider yourself both blessed and cursed in terms of your cultural exposure...

I need to catch up on the other episdoes you've downloaded! Are they located on the computer in the living room?

Yup - the first two can be found somewhere in the video folder (available via the desktop) and the others are in the completed downloads folder.

I've only watched two more than you at the moment... and I think episode 7 should be downloading as we speak.

Groovy.

Also, now that I think about it, 'office chair mighty' is a very weird phrase. And yet these days it seems so familiar...

I don't know what it refers to! *clueless*

It's a "Geordie Star Wars" reference. To understand, you'd need to see a certain scene from the aforementioned travesty/work of art involving Admiral Ackbar and his particularly enthusiastic admiration for his new chair.

Geordie Star Wars! :D

I can't remember the exact quote, but it's from Admiral Ackbar... hmm... how does it go again...?

"Someone call office supplies! These new chairs are fookin' MIGHTY!"

Ah, yes! That's it. A classic quote by anyone's standards.

Of course you realise that by discovering and liking this new genre show you have doomed it to a premature demise of being canned by cockweasel TV executives before the end of the first season.

It's all your fault.

Perhaps you should organise a viewing of the first few episodes (depending on length)?

I'm thinking perhaps not... this one seems to actually be having some success so far... and they've not done a vast amount that looks like it'd be chewing into the finances...

I suspect this could be arrangeable at some point... but not for a while as the next few weekends are booked up already.

Somewhat off topic, can I draw your attention to picocon. Besides their excellent taste in dates, they've been running what are apparently pretty good (albeit short and tiny) SF cons for years now - and a lot cheaper than an eastercon if you just want to dip a toe in...

It does look interesting, and I had spotted it previously... The only potential problem is the date, as I did already have potential plans for that particular day.

Of course, something might turn out to be workable...
