At last I have a sign of possible progress on jobhunting... jobserve.co.uk is as broken as ever, so I found a vacancy on there that looked appropriate (well, a few of them, actually) and e-mailed the relevant agency directly with my CV and a covering letter.
Within 10 minutes they phoned me. Apparently my CV looks ideal, as not only do I have more than half of their requirements, but they're a media based company - so my designer-ish- ness will come in handy. They'll be sending me more information imminently.
First real progress I've had so far... shouldn't get my hopes up, but it does look like the best bet I've had so far.
Now all I need is for those details to plop into my inbox...
