A normal working day...
19 May 2004 16:25Today has, thus far, been a normal working day. I have plenty to do on one particular project, but alas my brain is fondu today, so I didn't get very far on that one. I also have a training course to write, and I managed to get a bit of that done before realising that I wasn't making much sense. I also need to work on documentation, but I looked at the thing I'm supposed to be documenting and realised that I can't actually remember how it works, and that I'm not with-it enough to work it out from first principles.
So instead I've been doing some web design (as opposed to development, which is what I'm meant to be doing at the moment). So I've been working on ideas for a reworked way of doing the Runnymede Cam website. It may turn out to be completely useless, as the chronicle is ending this year and I have no idea if or when we'll restart after that, or what form the game might take.
But as an exercise in page design it's worked out quite well. I might even play with some graphics for it sometime soon, at which point I'd start waving my ideas around at
themadone.
If we were to use it, he'd probably have work to do, as I decided to ignore our current conventions completely and start again focussing on user experience rather than the technical side. It's not just a frontend design... (although that is a major part of it) but a reorganisation of the user percieved functionality. In short, I went all web-designery and editorial on it.
