(The idea being that upon seeing this, everybody should post up a poem... So..)

The ABC
Spike Milligan

'Twas midnight in the schoolroom
And every desk was shut
When suddenly from the alphabet
Was heard a loud "Tut-Tut!"

Said A to B, "I don't like C;
His manners are a lack.
For all I ever see of C
Is a semi-circular back!"

"I disagree," said D to B,
"I've never found C so.
From where I stand he seems to be
An uncompleted O."

C was vexed, "I'm much perplexed,
You criticise my shape.
I'm made like that, to help spell Cat
And Cow and Cool and Cape."

"He's right" said E; said F, "Whoopee!"
Said G, "'Ip, 'Ip, 'ooray!"
"You're dropping me," roared H to G.
"Don't do it please I pray."

"Out of my way," LL said to K.
"I'll make poor I look ILL."
To stop this stunt J stood in front,
And presto! ILL was JILL.

"U know," said V, "that W
Is twice the age of me.
For as a Roman V is five
I'm half as young as he."

X and Y yawned sleepily,
"Look at the time!" they said.
"Let's all get off to beddy byes."
They did, then "Z-z-z."

Well, I'm still around, albeit kind of quiet.

I've just read the latest CamUK steaming pile of turd additional rules library steaming pile of turd. Once again it is demonstrated that the higher ups clearly think that the best way to end the gameworld is to systematically suck all of the fun out of playing the game until all of the players abandon their characters in despair.

I don't see the fun in having your character killed by willpower tests in downtime, or starving from lack of blood between games. We're supposed to make games fun for players, not hit them repeatedly with things they can't affect, can't see the reasons behind (and probably never will) and can't do anything about. I hate the fact that the current idea seems to be to kill off player characters as quickly as possible - if we run with the various SPT ARL documents as written, we'd probably lose quite a number of characters before the end of the chronicle. What do those players do in the meantime? We're supposed to be making people lose their characters in downtime now as events occur on a timescale in days? Excuse me, but no. It's arse. Somebody up the ST chain has lost sight of what an ST is there for - to provide a story and a background for the players to ENJOY playing their characters in.

So I'll go out on a limb and say this:

Whilst I am an ADST, for the remainder of the Runnymede Sabbat Game, whilst plots can easily be Lethal, I'm not going to be killing characters for the sake of whittling down the numbers. I want our players to enjoy the game right up until the end of the last session. If your character dies before then, it's because you cocked up or did something terminally foolish. It won't be because your antidiluvian farted somewhere in kuala lumpur leading to an inexlicable, unblockable and untraceable dark wind of stench searing the flesh from your bones in downtime.

Yes, we will be harsh. There may even be a spot of railroading, so we can make sure we go out with a bang instead of a whimper. We have plans. Oh yes. They're already in motion, and will all come to fruition at our final game. That's our "gloves are off" game. We even have plans for what you as a player do after your character dies / comes to an end.

In short: Killing by inches bad. Losing character in downtime bad. Climactic conclusion good. Death for a cause and a purpose good. Trust your STs.

And then there's Mage. Which is, as ever, a completely different matter. Go mage!
