Another trip to the hospital to work out what's up with the sinuses... Bit of a "some good, some bad" kind of deal, alas.
The good news:
The drops (Goop A) followed by spray (Goop B) seems to have been working, and so they're keeping me on them. This will stop the headaches I'd been having. I had been having less of them, so this is not a huge surprise - it is good news, though. What's more, they say that if I have headaches again, to just tell my GP to give me the same spray straight away. If we don't faff around with lesser treatments and go straight for that, I won't need the drops that make me feel like I've been punched in the face! There are no side effects from long term use of the spray, and if I was to get other side effects, we'd have seen them already.
Basically, no surgery required - which is a win.
The bad news:
I am stuck with the problem of accumulated gank at the top/back of my throat. Which is irritating, as that's the problem that actually lead to me harrassing the medical profession about it. Basically, fairly often, I get lingering mucus/gank coming out of my sinuses into my throat. It's uncomfortable, and if I lean back, or lie on my back, it gets moreso. If I lie on my back and open my mouth (such as is required when visiting the dentists) I sometimes find that I can't actually breathe. This is apparently sometimes caused by sinus problems, and sometimes it just happens. If it's caused by the sinuses, they can fix it. If it isn't, they can't.
In my case, it isn't. So they can't.
There is a bit of a ray of sunshine, though. If I further increase my (already fairly significant) water intake, it should stop being as much of a problem, because the blob of gank will not be as gooey and so won't get as big and won't get in the way so much. The increased water intake may cause problems of its own (not least considering the nearest loo to where I work is two floors and half a building away, not to mention frequently out of order), but they shouldn't be too bad. I guess it's going to be a "striking a balance" kind of deal.
