having said it's the real world, it's very much like cthulhu in that it's the stuff in the real world that most people don't know about.
Having said that, it's also unlike cthulhu in that it's not hideous ancient beings from beyond time and space that are to blame for everything. It's us. Anything, good or bad, comes back to us.
