Well, I've had a long weekend, so here's an update:

Thursday:
Shopping in London with [livejournal.com profile] izzy_stradlin. Bought a bunch of things for a bunch of people because there are a bunch of birthdays around this time of year. When we got back, I phoned up to order the Sushi for friday (Because I had cooking plans of a japanese nature, but didn't fancy tangling with making sushi - especially as I don't have sushi making supplies). Alas, the delivery Sushi place is no more... Or more accurately, the home delivery service offered by a sushi catering firm had ceased to be. However, because I phoned a day in advance and it wasn't a tiny order, those nice people at Tanpopo decided to do it for me anyway.

I then went to the pub for a bit in the evening, before returning home to crash.

Friday:
On friday I officially got older. Pressies and good company were both well recieved, and I got to cook odd food for a bunch of folks. The menu was as follows:

Sushi
- Tuna Nigiri
- Yellowtail Nigiri
- Salmon Nigiri
- California Rolls
- Spicy Pork Rolls
- Assorted small rolls
Chicken Katsu Teriyaki
Noodle Dish* with Mushroom
Noodle Dish* Without Mushroom
Green leaf salad
- Japanese style dressing
- Japanese style ginger dressing

* - I can't find two recipes that agree on what to call this. Basically stir fried noodles with veg (and 'shrooms). Yakisoba is the closest I can get to naming it sensibly, but most of the yakisoba or yaki udon recipes out there include half a ton of meat and seafood.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] mistress_fran was introduced to both Crazy Gods of Endless Noise and Hayseed Dixie.

Saturday
Saturday was largely eaten by the Dark Ages game. I'm not entirely sure how the game went, because I was far too tired to have really been involved in running it. I think we ran the kind of game that pleases a different group of our players to usual... Which is good in some ways and bad in others. Alas, pleasing those who like both styles of play is going to forever be something of a holy grail, I feel.

However, we did suggest an idea which might help a little, which I'll post about on the [livejournal.com profile] runnymede_da community shortly.

Sunday
Sunday started with a plan for me and [livejournal.com profile] izzy_stradlin to visit Windsor Castle, because despite having lived so close to it for so long (including being able to see it on occasion), I've never been there.

We made it to windsor, but swiftly abandonned the castle part of the plan and instead wandered and bought things. There's a decent Oxfam bookshop (in the basement under the main shop), from which I picked up a hardback copy of the algebraist for three quid, along with some books of scottish and victorian ghost stories and a book of heraldry and heraldic art.

Assorted other things were purchased or perused, lunch was consumed at a tapas place, and then we returned. The evening involved watching more Chrno Crusade on my PC... which is growing on me as it moves along. I found it dragged a bit for the first couple of episodes, but I liked the look of it, and now that they're moving the main story along a bit more it's picked up.
