Blurgh.

Today, I feel like crap.

This is not a new thing - I've got a sinus problem that seems determined to stick around. This means that I have essentially had an ongoing headache for the past month and a bit (like I've been smacked in the cheekbones with a hammer), as well as a few other (more ewww) symptoms. One of the effects this has is that it is affecting the effectiveness of my breathing and taxing my immune system, making me tired and not generally leaving me in the cheeriest of moods a lot of the time.

Medication was supposed to be making it go away, but it seems to be getting worse rather than better. I'm going to be going to the doctor again next week, at which point he's already said he's going to refer me to an ENT specialist. He's already warned me that, given my long history of sinus problems (largely caused by them not being big enough) this might well lead to surgery.

I've been ill too much lately. Most of it due to this damned sinus problem. I want it to bugger off now.

But for now, I just feel crap. If I don't improve, I may well go home this afternoon.

Comiserations

Sounds painful.

Tried pipe-cleaners? Or, perhaps a TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine ;-)

That's pretty much what the surgery is! I had an archaic and barbaric version of the same thing done when I was small... They had to surgically break my nose to do it (which is why my nose now breaks really easily but doesn't hurt much when it does)!

Sinus problems are teh suck. I have had some luck in keeping mine under control with Clarityn or Tavist, but they never completely go away.

Teabags steeped in cold water placed on the eyes can reduce the pain/swelling in the cheekbones.

I've had luck with just a damp facecloth over my face... Alas, it tends to only really help for a short time.

Steam with methol and eucalyptus in is your friend. Speak to Mike Collins as they did something recently to clean out his sinuses - not the nicest of things I remeber but he's been better for it.

Hope you feel better soon

oddly I've heard some really good things about neti pots.

The concept is wierd, but apparently it can really help:
