Website upgrade...

Okay, so I'm toying with changing the forum software on my website yet again.
Reasons for change:
- Current forum software doesn't quite do everything I need. (It should, but a bug in the extension that provides that functionality means that it doesn't. There seems to be no progress in fixing the bug)
- Current forum software is written in a language I'm only passingly familiar with (I get by)
- New forum software written in a language I'm extremely familiar with (I fix other people's code regularly). I take those two back. They're both in the "passingly familiar" language. I was misinformed by a reccommendation.
Reasons not to change:
- Current forum software looks better and I like the ethos behind it.
- Current forum software is specifically geared towards low traffic.
- Current forum software has a features that make it ideal for online RP.
- I *like* the current software, and am tempted to re-work my approach to remove the permission problems.
- I'd probably need to get folks to re-register again.
My ideal solution, of course, would be to write my own forum software to meet my exact needs. It's tempting to do so, too, but necessary free time is unavailable, and that's too much like what I do at work.
I'm torn. (less torn now that I've investigated more...)
