Part One: The Upside
Happy New Year, folks. Went to an (as usual) damned fine party at
blue_cat and
charliemouse's place. Enjoyed myself there, then came back to a different bunch of drunken folks at home... All very entertaining.
Part Two: The Downside
I seem to have one of those guests that will not leave, and who seems to be around all the damned time. 4am. 4am just keeps coming around and I can't sleep until he's gone. Tonight he seems to have brought around his even more tiresome brother, 5am, as well. I wish they'd both just sod off and let me get to sleep at a sensible time rather than making me wait up for them every night.
Yup. Insomnia. Well, in the long run it all balances out I suppose. A couple of years back it got so that I couldn't cope without around sixteen hours sleep out of every twenty four (yep, it got that bad), now I seem to be lucky if I make it to four.
Tonight's being particularly bad because we've got people staying over, so I can't just go downstairs and watch a DVD or something. I was going to watch stuff in my room, but my technology seems to be having a bad day. My VCR flatly refused to play a tape and my DVD player has gone and decided that it will only play DVDs that I've already watched sometime in the past few days. The folks staying over are entirely welcome, but right now I kind of wish I could use the front room. Maybe we should get a parallel front room. One that just sits there in a different dimension or something. One that uses the same doors and occupies the same space, so that guests can sleep in one and insomniac slightly drunken Eggwhites can shamble round in the other, finding things to do whilst everybody else is dead to the world.
I might try going back to join
sea_cucumber in bed in a minute, but I have a growing suspicion that 6am is waiting around for me as well. Sneaky Bugger. Don't want to disturb
sea_cucumber by fidgeting around whilst failing to sleep.
On a final note, I've noticed that I'm starting to get cranky more easily. I'm putting this down to the lack of sleep, and so should everybody else. If I snap at anybody, don't take it personally. It's the AM brothers I'm irritated with, not anybody else. Just the ever unwelcome but always present 4am and his hanger on ne'er do well siblings, 5am and 6am. Those guys are really starting to piss me off.
