Part 1:
Some people (I'm looking at you, [livejournal.com profile] sea_cucumber) may have interpreted my recent post about various London based housing issues as a dig at [livejournal.com profile] sea_cucumber - it was not. I was simply asking people to remember that she's not the only one affected, and to ask people to have a crack at giving [livejournal.com profile] izzy_stradlin a bit of support too [EDIT: As [livejournal.com profile] sea_cucumber herself also requested in her post on the subject!]. As it happens, in the short term at least, [livejournal.com profile] izzy_stradlin will be moving back with me, from where she will continue to job hunt with a mind to moving back Londonwards when employed...

Part 2:
A while back, I mentioned to a few folk about a creepy story posted on the rpg.net message boards, but couldn't find it to draw attention to it, as the search function on the site is currently broken. However! Somebody else recently rediscovered it, and posted to the thread, bringing it back to the first page of the board. You'll need to be signed up on the message boards to even see the specific board it's on (Tangency), but if you are then the story can be found here. The poster is a police officer in the US who, when he's allowed to, posts tales from his job. This is one such tale that is just a Cthuhu or Unknown Armies game waiting to happen...

That is an excellent story, true or not.

Incidentally, have you seen the book Pam bought me a while back, "Weird New Jersey"? It's full of urban myths and weird places, classic Fortean stuff. If you're ever looking for inspiration...

I haven't, but I'd be interested... If ever I decide to try running a US based UA game, that would be a handy sourcebook.

I remember that post. And thinking I needed to steal it for some kind of horror-type game.

Creepy as hell.

Creepy story, and with an odd ring of the belivable about it...

Does make you linger for a while of thoughts of a universe, not quite right

That poster quite often posts his stories of "things that occured whilst he was working", most of which are mundane and deal with human stupidity, weirdness, or just explaining how US law enforcement works. Basically, his normal posting pattern makes this a lot more believable.

Well, he did post stuff quite often, anyway - he's only just resurfaced after being away for while, which is probably why that story has come up again. Hopefully he'll start again...

I'm feeling the urge to write more creepy stuff, fictional in my case. I wonder if i will.

I've been wanting to start writing again, too, but still seem to do better at worldbuilding than anything else...

Then we need to write a big long set of books then. You take care of the world, and I'll plop people into it. We'll have people looking forward to when the next "ksfjsdk" book comes out.. yupyup.

I don't suppose you could paste it here for those of us without RPGNet accounts?

When I've finished reading the (vast) thread on the boards, I'll do so. Several other posters asked about reposting the story, so I'll see if they got responses first. I may put it up for a specific friends group if I can't get permission to put it up openly...

Indeed you did! I actually meant to mention that in my post, but forgot - so I've edited it in now!

mew, i just got the impression that people thought i was being horrid and selfish, but i had thought of her too, just hadn't managed to come up with a suggestion that she liked :(
mep!

Nope. People don't think you're being horrid and selfish. Disturbingly sane, perhaps, for actually wanting to go with a sensible plan like the one you're working with... Mad church lady basement room is a fine option, and you'd be foolish to not take it.

That's indeed a rather creepy story. Thanks for linking to that.
I really should read the RPGnet boards more...
