Possibly lacking some Carter USM if you're on a nostalgia trip.

I'd also say check out some Mogwai

I have both Mogwai and Slowdive (who they remind me of) in my MP3 collection. Obviously this means that I am pretentious, as this is a natural side-effect of listening to Mogwai.

As for Carter USM, you're right! I shall have to get hold of some... I've seen them live but have none of their stuff to listen to!

It always makes me happy to see Slowdive (or, really, any shoegazing) on somebody's playlist. :)

They have a greatest hits out at the moment or soon called "You Fat Bastard" apparently.

I only thought of them as I read an article in the Guardian about bands who were highly sussessful but not all that influential (you don't say something sounds "carter-esque" or do you?) Another example would be Dave Dee, Beaky, Mick and Titch, (or whatever it was) who spent more time in the charts during the 60's than the Beatles. Good article.
