For the past two to three weeks, I have been doing two things differently.
1) I've been washing my hair less often.
2) When I do wash it, I've not been using shampoo.
The end result is pretty much what I'd been expecting, and that's not a horrible manky mess. My scalp is in a much better condition that it was previously. It looks like Shampoo is pretty much to blame for the state of my scalp. Even hypoallergenic shampoo. Soon, I shall follow a friend's advice and try some without Laureth Sulphate (or variations thereof) and see if that helps me as it helped her.
Conveniently, I've found such a shampoo that also comes without ridiculous fragrances. As a proper manly-man (well, ish), I have no idea what Jojoba smells like. I also don't want my head smelling of lavender (although that might help me sleep!) or cranberries or anything like that ...
Okay, so the "your scalp is royally fucked" shampoo from the same people (which I've also ordered) does have a fragrance, but I think I can probably cope with smelling of tea-tree oil for an evening every once in a while.
