Completely unrelated to my last post, I'm thinking of having another crack at growing my own herbs. I was doing fine last time, until the landlord accidentally killed them all whilst de-mossing the garage roof. This time I'm thinking of growing herbs in planters / pots near to the back door... that'll mean I have easier access to them and I'll be able to move them around as needed, which will be handy for cooking. I'll also be able to relocate them easily when we eventually move away from here, which will also be good.
What I don't really know is what time of year to plant them. I'd guess that mid november is probably not the time. Anybody out there in internet-land know when a good time of year to plant herbs might be? Bearing in mind that I'll need to plant them outdoors - I don't really have space to keep a herb box in the house. I'm unlikely to grow them from seed to start with (although I know I could) - I'll probably buy some that are already on the way up and plant them as appropriate.
