Looking for Udon recipes...

So, I was looking for Udon recipes on the web (ie: things to do with udon noodles to make them a bit more interesting than just plain noodles), and had to do a double take.

I know the word means more than it's current accepted meaning here in the western world, but I really had to keep reminding myself of that.

Well, consider the colour and stringiness of cold udon noodles and you can see where it's coming from...

The translation for bukkakeru is "to dash (slosh) water (or other liquid) on a person or in a person's face" so I guess it comes from the inevitable slurping and spraying of broth that comes with eating udon. This usage is most likely a lot older than what the internet generally describes as bukkake.
