7 December 2005 12:16So, monday night was a Marillion gig. At
izzy_stradlin's behest we got there about 3 hours early and so got a decent spot near the front of the queue. Doors opened pretty much on time, at which point we separated -
izzy_stradlin got her desired spot at the front, right in front of Pete Trewavas, and I got mine (right next to the sound and light desks (good view, good sound and I get to see what the lighting blokey's doing - which in this case was best described as "a damned fine job").
Support act (Amy Wadge) came on fairly sharpish, and was okay but not really my thing. Bit too bland. After her lot cleared off, there was the traditional fairly long wait whilst all of the marillion kit got sorted out on stage.
Then came the main event, which was as ever damned fine. Sound was a bit off to begin with, but picked up fast. Lights were really well done... H's inane wittering was entertainingly barking, as ever, and with some very good response to some fairly annoying hecklers. In fact, the band were on top form overall.
The setlist was something of a surprise, as they played a whole load of stuff that they don't often play live. They also played for about two and three quarter hours! All in all, a damned fine gig.
Probably only of interest to
izzy_stradlin, but here's ( the annotated setlist: )
